Heels on the Go is a monthly blog feature with an urbanized look at the city of Seattle and its culture & events

Yes, it’s that time of year again! The Summer Solstice Fair and Parade in Fremont is this weekend June 19-20th!! Nothing like perusing the crowded streets of Fremont “cheek to cheek” with body painted booties, hippies, artists and just plain happy people. Whether it is the naked bike riders in the extravagant parade, the closed down streets of beer, or rocking out to the many bands, there is something for everyone at the Summer Solstice Fremont Fair! I would say this is the best people watching and eye candy you are going to experience this year in Seattle (bold statement I know). If you have never been to the festival, or have forgotten (AKA drank to much), this festival can get a bit chaotic! So, I have come up with a few tips on how to best enjoy and survive this year’s festival:

Heels on the Go is a monthly feature providing an urbanized look at the city of Seattle and its culture and events.

So, if you are not aware that the Seattle International Film Festival is going on right now, then you are probably like most people in Seattle. It is very hard to find out information about the festival and there are so many documentaries and movies this year it’ll make your head spin! I am a huge Independent movie buff, so I wanted to give you some suggestions/tips for the best way to attend this year’s festival:

SIFF does not act like a normal “festival”

This festival spans over a long period of time, May 20th-June13th (the longest film fest in the country). The movies play all over the Seattle area at random movie theaters, so tracking where and when a film is playing can be a cumbersome process.

Finding out which film you would like to view can also be a challenge

The best way I have found to search films and look at reviews is on the SIFF Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/SIFFNews here you can find all you need to know about which films play when, and read reviews about them from your peers. I found the Facebook page to be easier than the Web site www.siff.net to find what I am looking for. I also downloaded the iSIFF iPhone App, which is free. Just search iSIFF in the app store via your phone
