As a pseudo veteran of the film festival circuit, there were big expectations for Seattle area director Lynn Shelton ahead of the Sundance premier of her film “Your Sister’s Sister.” The film had already performed well at the Toronto Film Festival in late 2011, garnering the attention of studios and wrapping up a distributor deal with IFC. While no release date has been planned for the movie yet, Shelton took the film to Sundance last week and built up some more steam.

Shelton’s background in the Seattle area has helped grow her quite a bit of local fanfare. After showing at Sundance, “Your Sister’s Sister” will open up the Seattle International Film Festival, which happens to be the largest in the country.

YSS was produced and shot locally in Seattle, making it the perfect open for the festival. The plot focuses on the relationship between two sisters and a best friend in a story that has a number of complications and revelations. The movie stars a number of excellent actors including Emily Blunt, Rosemarie DeWitt and Mark Duplass.
