About 80 women attended the 2nd Annual Breast Cancer Awareness Event at Duque last Thursday, October 15th. It was a jovial and energetic setting (for a topic that tends to be rather heavy) with lots of pink and guests ready to connect, shop and sip on the signature Pearl Pink Coconut Cause-Mo, served up by one of our resident mobile bartenders (who also happened to be one of the only men in the house). Guests noshed on a gorgeous pink-inspired cupcake display from NYCupcakes, perused shiny baubles and wears, indulged in SoLive treatments, a natural seaweed enriched product that’s rumored to rival botox, picked up swag bags filled with goodies from Innervibe, bliss body butters, Cherrish antioxidant drink, Decleor samples and a barrage of collateral encouraging all to “Check Your Boobies.”

During the speaking portion of the evening, we heard from Giovanna Duque, owner of Duque Salon + Spa, who told us her compelling Breast Cancer survival story as well as from a friend and Girl Power Hour regular, who was currently going through treatment. It was important to hear both sides of the this story, which is why, although we still don’t have the final word on how much we raised for Get Hitched Give Hope, we know that the event was a smashing success!

On a lighter note, Jennifer Carroll and Kathy Schultz gave candid and humorous accounts of lingerie Do’s and Don’ts while what seemed like nearly everyone won a Door Prize. Event photos were captured by Nataworry Photography.
