Fabulous Feasting is a monthly blog feature focusing on one woman’s quest for the most fabulous food in Seattle to feast on, from restaurants to recipes.
Mother’s Day is this week. It does seem rather early this year. Did it sneak up on you like it did on me? Have you planned your gift for Mom yet? Well, if not, what better way to tell mom how you feel about her than by giving her a “Big Bowl of Love”?
I recently had the pleasure of joining other food lovers for an evening in the kitchen with Cristina Ferrare. Cristina made some delicious food for us…
When I was four my Mother and Grandmother taught me how to cross stitch. That’s my first recollection of sewing. I’m not an expert hand sewer or even incredible on a sewing machine, but sewing taught me a lot. My mother had her own Hmong Craft business and because of that I was raised in a crafty environment. She raised me to Do It Your Self everything. I watched my mother create pieces of art, clothing, and solutions with crafts. A lot of that did rub off on me and nurture my creativity. I’m the kind of craft gal that’s not an expert at one particular thing, but I can pick up easily on how to fabricate a product through crafts and make it my own. This creativity has taken me down the road of making my own clothes, jewelry, friends’ wedding veils, bags, decorations, handmade cards, and variety of other random items.
The uniqueness of this blog is to not reinvent the wheel of creating something beautiful, useful, or fashionable. But to keep crafts simple and to make your own stylish pieces without spending a ton of money. The pieces that inspire me are current trends, fashion, and the seasons. I hope to inspire you to create your own crafts, clothes, and couture without the cost. I also hope that you will inspire me as well and send ideas of what we might be able to create together.
My first project is the “Sparkling Shoes”. When I first saw these Christian Louboutin shoes I fell madly in love, I still dream about owning them. My boyfriend after seeing the price of the shoes (Over $2,000) said, “I’d rather buy you a car, at least you can get around in a car then walk in those shoes.” I couldn’t help but laugh, because it was semi true. It would be difficult making something exactly like this so instead I made something with some of the elements. Which include a pair of pink heels and bling.
THE INSPIRATION !
